I have recently been diagnosed with Macular Generative Disease (AMD). I am only 50. The dr. said he was shocked to see that my right eye was what he would expect of someone in their 70's with this disease. Both my parents have it so he is guessing I got it from both which is what progressed it so soon for me. Anyway - New to this forum and wanting to get some insight on what to expect here. I start injections next month and a bit scared of the whole thing. What results have people seen with these injections and is there any change it will stop the progression of the disease? Also, does anyone know if there is any correlation with this disease and strokes? I also had a stroke 2 years ago and my eye sight has gotten worse, I'm just wondering if there is a connection with AMD and strokes.

You mentioned you have AMD and are scheduled next month for an injection? AMD is diagnosed as either dry or wet. If dry AMD, new drugs via injections came out in 2023 and given every 25-60 days I believe. Now if it is "wet" AMD then yes, eye injections every month or so, would be necessary to keep the condition manageable. I have wet AMD in both eyes and had to start injections and continue every month for about 6 months. I started with Eyelea. I responded so well that I was then given Eyelea HD which is stronger. I now receive injections every 10-11 weeks. It all sounds scary with a "shot in the eye" but honestly, the thought is worse than the actual procedure. It takes just a few seconds, and your eye will be numb.
