MILD Procedure scheduled,,,I want your comments please
My mom is 87 years old, and she has had Spinal Stenosis for years. Her MRI shows severe stenosis on L2-L3, L3-L4, and L4-L5. It is now that she has become unable to walk without a cane and walker. She's much slower now and much more pain. Her doctor recommended MILD Procedure to clear out the stenosis area. I'd like to know if anyone has had this procedure done. If so, how was recovery after procedure (quick and easy? long and hard?), and did the procedure work for you....a little, a lot? Please post your comments....she is presently scheduled for the procedure on May 23, 2024.

I had MILD surgery. It went well, and I recovered well,
but unfortunately it was not able to resolve my back issues
or eliminate pain as I am needing rods and screws.
sas
it sure helped me maybe it was the DR.
I don't know what a "mild" procedure is. I have stenosis and a ruptured disc. After two expensive lower back injections that only helped for a short period, I have to take a daily dose of hydrocodone for my chronic pain.
In my opinion, we are all lab rats. Perhaps one day, someone will get lucky.
The mild procedure, or minimally invasive lumbar decompression, is a surgical treatment for lumbar spinal stenosis, a condition where the spinal canal narrows, putting pressure on the spinal nerves. It's a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that removes excess bone and ligament tissue to create more space in the spinal canal, relieving pressure and pain.
If you can find and get an appointment with a neurosurgeon who only does spines, that would be my first choice. My neurosurgeon diagnosed what multiple orthopedists had not. I am 90 percent better.
this is only done for Spinal Stenosis
IT NOW 2 WEEKS SINCE MILD PROCEDURE --GETTING PT to strengthen legs and back--the pain I had before mild is gone, except when doing PT, I get discomfort in left buttock, but the pain in both buttocks, thighs, and ankles consistently is gone. I'm still walking with a walker until hopefully, my back and legs get stronger, so I could start busing my cane.
IT WILL BE 3 WEEKS ON MONDAY SINCE I HAD THE MILD PROCEDURE. THE TERRIBLE PAIN I HAD IN BOTH BUTTOCKS, THIGHS, AND ANKLES IS GONE. AFTER DOING MY EXERCISES WITH MY PT, LATER I EXPERIENCE I'D SAY SORENESS. I'm STILL ON THE WALKER BECAUSE I HAVE TO STRENGTHEN MY BACK AND LEG MUSCLES BEFORE I FEEL SAFE TO GO TO CANE. WILL POST IN ANOTHER COUPLE OF WEEKS
There are 2 mild procedures. One by a physiatrist using fluoroscopy. Another be an ortho using a scope and is more invasive
The surgeon and or physiatrist both use fluoroscopy. Which is real time X-rays to guide their instruments.
A physiatrist or surgeon makes a small incision in the back and uses fluoroscopy (real-time X-ray imaging) to guide specialized instruments to remove excess bone or ligament tissue that is compressing the nerves.
