Gallbladder Concerns

Posted by abopp2022 @abopp2022, Apr 27, 2019

So I’ve been having chest pain and pain in my ride side. My chest feels heavy like something is sitting on it all the time. It’s hard to breathe. When I cough and sneeze my side just under my rib cage hurts like crap. I feel really yucky and sometimes my left arm hurts. I have multiple panic and anxiety attacks. I’ve been to my pcp (April 26) and she said that it’s probably acid reflux and if not she’ll check for gallbladder issues. I ended up going to the Er that night because my chest and side hurt so bad at work and i felt like I was going to pass out. This morning (April 27) I woke up sick and can’t seem to keep food down. I’ve only had a few crackers and some chicken pasta. I do have family history of gallbladder problems. I’m only 18 years old.

My spouse has been having pressure and or pain in his upper right quadrant off and on for a while. I thought it was his gallbladder. Told him to go to his Dr. Now he is having itching and the off n on pain. Can it be related? Is it his gallbladder?

Hi. @mamimac - I moved your discussion here so you could join with others talking about gallbladder concerns and questions:

I had my gallbladder removed about 12 years ago. I don't recall itching, but certainly a ton of pain right before my surgery.

@roch made some good points about seeing a doctor.

How is he doing today?

Not sure this is helpful but had my gallbladder removed in 2008. Test came back normal. But subsequent ultrasound sound found a cholesterol polyp that would sluf off and close off the bile duct and make me sick. The obstruction would eventually dissolve and things would go back to normal.

Two years after having the gallbladder removed I started getting deathly sick after eating red meat or other fatty foods. Gastrointestinologist said it was a fairly common occurrence related to not being able to process the bile. He put me one a bile-binder called Welchol which worked wonderfully.

I am 63 years old, female, have been in the ER three times for abdominal pain now. Started on September 16th which was a straightforward diverticulitis problem which they gave me antibiotics for and it went away. But I kept having a low grade stomach ache which is now gotten worse over these 8 weeks so that I actually scream or shout out if I move and this thing kicks me in the stomach and expectedly. I have had three CT scans, a CTA scan, a HIDA scan, an ultrasound, and just last week a colonoscopy. Nothing stands out, everything looks fine. But I'm not fine! Anyone else had this problem?

Hello @ffb and welcome to Mayo Connect. I'm sorry to hear of all the discomfort you are having. Your medical team seems to be trying to find the problem, but without success. I'm wondering if any foods or beverages make the pain worse?

I see that you posted in the "Gallbladder Concerns" discussion group. Have you had gallbladder surgery, or do you feel this problem might be related to your gallbladder?
