Mysterious shortness of breath: What has helped you?

I wonder if the cortisol hormone is out of whack in my case. Kind of putting the body into a chronic anxiety situation which of course promotes SOB.
My O2 is in the normal range, but the hunger remains.

That's definitely a possibility. Activating the sympathetic nervous system can lead to dysfunctional breathing even if unperceived. A good way to check is to take a moment to scan your body from head to toe. Notice any tension in any muscles. E.g., are you clenching your jaw, are your neck muscles tight from unconsciously flexing them, are you using your chest to breathe instead of your diaphragm, etc.

Slow breathing exercises and mediation would help activate the parasympathetic nervous system for relaxed breathing.
