Wittygoose is that Moviprep that you took without issues? I have read that one can be a bit better.

I had an allergic reaction to the Golytely and had the procedure cancelled. I did the movie report without issues. No bloat, no vomiting, no spasms.

My experience.

I also had a bad experience with golytly prep. I couldn't keep it down. I kept vomiting it up. It wasn't producing any bowel movements.

Believe it or not i do the childrens prep because i cant tolerate that nasty salty adult prep. Makes me vomit. I take two dulcolax and 9 ounces of miralax diluted in gatorade. It works great. Cleans me right out!

I just had a colonoscopy last week. I mixed the miralax and the gatorade. I noticed a warning on Miralax not to use it if you have kidney disease. It was so much better than the stuff from the pharmacy.

I had one colonoscopy with the liquid recommended, and, despite my following the instructions to a T, I was told I wasn't fully cleaned out. My next two colonoscopies were with pills (Sutab) rather than liquid, and I was fine. It's a bother having to space the 24 pills according to the instructions. You don't get very much sleep the night before the procedure, but it was so much easier than trying to swallow that awful liquid, and it worked much better too!

@robertatheriveter - Glad to hear the sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate and potassium chloride combination (SUTAB) worked much better to prep you for your colonoscopies.

You may have seen my post earlier in this discussion about trying the sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and potassium chloride combination (SUTAB) pre-colonoscopy https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1289181/. It did not work as well for me as the liquid and made me rather ill. Like you, I felt like I did not sleep well the night before, with setting various alarms at intervals to take more tablets and water.

My husband has done the PEG 3350, osmotic laxative and electrolytes combo (Golytely), but he has to start earlier the day before than recommended on the container because his system runs about 2-3 hours behind where mine would be having taken the same amount of prep.

All that to say, it seems that different preps work best for different people. But @michea, I'm with you that the whole prep thing is just awful. I guess you have to experiment with what prep works best for you and your body, though this can be a crazy experience.

@ggr - your doctor had you do a miralax and the gatorade mix, and it worked well? How did you find it better than the prep or preps from the pharmacy?
