Positive vibes ONLY thread

POV: I’m often left stressed and scared after reading this forum. It occurred to me that most of the people posting here have had bad experiences and wonder if people who have good experiences aren’t on a forum? I was listening to a podcast and the person casually threw out that she had OP and had a year of a certain medication NBD all good. She’s not a spokesperson for drugs and it was good to hear. If 75% of women have osteoporosis/penia surely there are good results out there? My PT, Dr and my endo were all like why are you so upset? You’ll be fine! But after I spend time here I’m faced with gloom and doom and feel awful. Hit me with your good stuff!

@samclembeau

So you don’t go down the same rabbit hole?
Saves a lot of time knowing what you don’t want so you can focus on what you do want to do. There are lots of positive outcomes posted here. Osteoporosis doesn’t have a lot of positive outcomes YET, because it was always thought to be and old person’s problem. Now they are really Doing research, but it takes time to know what works and what doesn’t. Look how cancer used to be a death sentence. My how that has changed. We will get there. Have heart.

Understood. I just thought others of my ilk may appreciate a thread dedicated to positive outcomes since there are so many that deviate into negativity.

Not all negativity is bad.It opens our eyes to yes there may be a better choice for me.Yes,I would like to know side effects causing more pain. That gives an opportunity to explore further esp if many are experiencing the same side effects. We need an open mind for good vs bad to be able to make educated choices.

Right and there are lots of those posts readily available. I’m specifically searching for positive outcomes.

Hello @nannygoat5,

This is a great discussion to get started. You make a great point about sometimes finding only negative results despite there being positive results out in the world as well.

I'd like to invite @monkhhi to this conversation. @monkhhi started a discussion based on their positive Evenity experience after prolonging treatment because of being scared off by reading the experiences of others:

"Evenity worked for me: Why I chose medication for osteoporosis"
- https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/evenity-worked-for-me/

I'd also like to invite @neesie0159, @kristie2, @gravity3 and @pami who all shared their positive experiences as well.

@nannygoat5, if you are comfortable sharing - do you have a positive experience to share with your osteoporosis journey - A successful lifestyle change or medication experience?

Why is everyone busting nannygoats chops? She has every right to start their own thread on a certain topic. If you have something positive to add then do it. If not, don’t. Just move on to a different thread that better suits your experiences.

I’m in the beginning of my journey! I’m a carrot not a stick person lol - so I’d like to hear good outcomes. I feel one’s mental health is important to overall health and healing. Thanks for asking!

I find this site very hopeful. It gives me great comfort to know others are experiencing some of the same things I'm going through . I'm not alone in this journey. I find hope through others that My side effects are just temporary, normal for Forteo. There's light at the end and I will be stronger, my bones stronger.

I agree. There are many, many threads addressing the negative aspect. Why can't we allow one focusing on the positive!!!!!

We allwant positivity in our lives.Yes,we constantly read negative posts but the way I see it is maybe that can help me in future medication choices.I take it with a grain of salt and try to learn from what has caused these meds to cause such neg outcomes and unless you hear it from what has happened to others we wouldn’t know the negativity of these drugs.Sure we can read inserts regarding meds but hearing a person’s experience is real.I want to be aware of how something suggested to me as a medication has affected someone. Then we can take the negative with the hood and try to find a good balance.Just food for thought.
