Help/explanation for intermittent, red calves and ankles from LC ?
My first Covid arrived on December 24, 2019. Not my favorite Christmas gift. I had all of the symptoms, including very purple toes. After several weeks, things calmed down, but my ankles and calves were left with a bright redness. I was told at that time by a neurologist that it wasn’t my nerves it was most likely from Long Covid, which they were just beginning to identify.
The redness has come back over overtime for no particular reason that I can discern, and then it leaves for no particular reason I can discern. But it’s back now with a vengeance and I don’t know why and I do not know what to do about it. Any information or help that anyone can lend will be most appreciated. Thank you. And good luck everybody.

Covid infection and shots that cause your body to make the toxic spike protein affects the nervous system and nerves plus damage endothelial cells. It sounds like you have small fiber neuropathy and/or blood vessel spasms. You may want to have your neurologist do a small fiber neuropathy skin punch biopsy. You may also want to see a vascular/vein specialist.
My teen son has Raynauds syndrome on his arms/hands and legs/feet and had Covid 2 times and gets red/purple skin changes/mottling. I have small fiber neuropathy and had 2 Covid shots and the Covid infection once.
Does your calves and ankles hurt/burn/feel warm? A neurologist can prescribe gabapentin or Lyrica for nerve pain and taking alpha Lipoic acid, Acetyl l carnitine and magnesium has helped me.
My son takes magnesium and omega 3 to help him with his symptoms (also helps his migraines).

What does " Annulus systolic excursion mean value 14 "
Thank you for this response! Actually, I have no pain and no heat and no itching. This happened twice before for seemingly no reason except that I was told by a neurologist that it was from the mini clots and was from LC.
THAT SAID, I AM GOING TO PASS YOUR WONDERFUL ADVICE ON TO MY PCP. MANY THANKS.
Very sorry for your pain and troubles. My experience is very much like yours....but my right lower extremity ---- suddenly in the middle of the night it felt like someone has poured gasoline on my right foot and set me afire. Foot curled inward. Saw three doctors they had no help to offer. Then saw a new MD to my area. Caroline Flowers MD. Safford AZ Brilliant!!! Now most days are pain free.. after a year six months of extreme pain.
Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve had no pain or discomfort with it and today it’s beginning to fade after a week and a half. I have no idea what stimulates it to arrive, nor do I know why it leaves. Long Covid is not for sissies!
Best of luck to you and I’m sure this is not the last time we both reach out via Mayo Clinic. Sending you positive healing energy.
I had a severe case of covid and spent some time over the last holiday season 2024. My feet and calves were red and swollen. the doctor attributed to Venous stasis, that's where your blood has a tendency to pool in your feet and calves instead of returning back to your heart properly. I stared to wear compression socks and it helped greatly. Don't know if this long shot would help you but thought it worth a mention.
