Am I a cancer candidate? Doctors can't seem to find out
Hi, I need your help. I am 33 years old, female, was diagnosed with PCOS 10 years ago, I am mid-weight, 5 ft, 68kg weight. Now, I have been having blood discharges for the past 3 years, no normal menstruation at all. Just blood discharges every day. I am a virgin, I mean, just the first base, no penetration, so no child birth experience as well. Now, I had myself checked and my uterine lining is already more than 20cm thick, the doctor ordered pelvic and abdominal ultrasound and she said she couldn't figure out what else is wrong. My blood discharge is color brown, even during the physical exam, fresh brown blood came out, no odor though. The doctor then gave me meds so I would have a normal menstruation, and hormonal pill. I had been taking the pill for 12 days post menstruation, but on the 12th day, I experience pelvic pain, and blood discharges again until now, on the 17th day.
Help me out to know what exams do I need to ask the doctor so I will be properly diagnosed.

Hello,
If it were me, I’d ask for a dnc and have it sent to pathology.
Recommend to do biopsy is 5 mins long for you.
ask for a biopsy of your endometrial lining
Is your doctor a gynecologist? If not, I recommend you see one. I agree with the suggestions that you have an endometrial biopsy or a D & C. An endometrial biopsy will, hopefully, show the reason for your symptoms. But a D & C may be necessary because of the extremely large amount (20 cm) of abnormal tissue in your uterus.
@lovella Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. We aren't medical providers here however we do offer emotional support and share our own experiences.
So you have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Is that correct?

I'm thinking that what you are going through with the blood discharges every day is distressing for you and causing you problems in your everyday life. In your place I would want to get back to my normal level of functioning and I would pester the doctor to help me get there.
I agree with what others here @lathomasmd @klue @zhangh73 @sbryant have posted. Is your doctor a gynecologist? If no, then in your situation I would want the opinion of a specialist in gynecology. Since you have a thickened endometrial lining I would want to know why. The recent onset of pelvic pain is concerning too.
You could ask for an endometrial biopsy however a D & C (dilation and curettage) removes more tissue from the uterus. That tissue is then sent to pathology where it is analyzed and then the pathologist reports back to your doctor. Here is something from Mayo Clinic to read on D & C:

I have had two of these D & C procedures. Both were done under light general anesthesia in a same-day surgery room in the hospital. I needed someone to drive me to the hospital and take me home as the staff does not allow anyone to drive home alone when they have had any medication or anesthesia that affects decision-making and consciousness.
What do you think of this suggestion?
