My GI insists that the latest research on pre and probiotics for C-diff is that they are not only useless in helping to treat it, but can actually cause an increase in diarreah. I do know, I have taken loads of probiotics for years prior to getting c-diff, but got it anyway...

Hi @drdjoyce Interesting how there are so many differing opinions with helping to prevent a C-diff recurrence. Besides judicious measures for hygiene in preventing cross contamination, eating pre and probiotics are highly respected for helping to keep the gut biome healthy and balanced. My GI specialist is supportive of daily intake of foods like raw sauerkraut, kimchi, yogurt and soluable fiber and whole grains, etc., but not taking probiotic supplements. Some of the supplements can create more harm than good.

I’m sorry you’re also a victim of this nasty scourge. Has your GI specilist suggested Vowst? How many recurrences have you had?
