3 cm liver lesion: I'm beyond terrified
A 3cm lesion was found on my liver during a ct angiogram. I am beyond terrified! It was suggested I go for a ct scan of my liver. I am close to canceling it.

I am in the same boat they found a 3.6 cm mass on my liver I am freaking out never had 1 symptom.
also they could not tell me much until I have a mri with contrast I am scared this is what they said after CT scan without contrast
Nodular cirrhotic appearance of the liver with ill-defined hypodense mass in the right hepatic lobe
measuring up to 3.6 cm; recommend MRI abdomen with and without contrast for further evaluation.

2 Reactions@phyzman: so sorry you learned your scan results show liver irregularities. It is human to feel this anxiety now. You can research “Liver” in Mayo Connect “search” to review the many posts from our peers who discovered liver cancer. This info will answer many of your questions.
You are not alone! Many of us are living with liver metastases stemming from cancer in other organs. My best thoughts are with you.

doctor and finish the testing.

1 ReactionHi, @tyredone63 - getting news of a lesion or suspicious finding can be nerve wracking. Sorry you are feeling so scared.
Have you already had your CT scan and you are waiting for the results, or you are waiting for an appointment to have a CT scan?
Waiting for the scan

1 ReactionJust the idea of knowing would be better than not knowing. The not knowing would always be there. and would mentally not be good. I’d rather know and you can take it from there. It’d sure be less stressful. I hope you get the CT scan for your own peace. Good luck and hoping for the best.

1 ReactionI am a 18 year old female, overweight, never had a sip of alcohol or ever did any drugs, no known history of liver issues in family that I know of.
So in 2022 when I was 15 I was told I had 3 liver lesions sizes 3cm, 1.8cm , 1.1cm. The MRI was inconclusive they did not know the exact etiology so they didn’t know if it was benign or malignant. I then 5 months later got an ultrasound that showed two hyperechoic areas measuring 2.3x2.9x1.7cm and 2.3x2.2x2.6cm. Anyway my doctors didn’t ever show true concern but im worried now as im having mild shoulder pain and RUQ pain. Im worried sick ive been dealing with health anxiety due to this I feel like my life is ending bc of all the fear and most days I don’t wanna be here anymore because of this. It’s been 3 years since the findings I am 18 now and still here but im worried, since the lesions were found 3 years ago and im still here, does that mean anything??

1 Reactionbillie0918, the only way of determining whether the lesions are benign is by liver biopsy. Benign lesions can cause RUQ pain. And it is a very good sign that you are still here. I sorry that you didn't have the biopsy three years ago because you would have been saved the anxiety of not knowing. Usually benign tumors don't need treatment, but if they cause pain, they can be removed. Malignant tumors would probably be causing more symptoms than you are experiencing. You really need the peace of knowing. I'm guessing and hoping they are benign.
