Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

I'm on it at twice max dose due to doctor error for chronic high level spinal pain after taking the drug cipro for an ear infx 10 years ago (doctor would not change med, I called 4 times). They want me to titrate down to normal max dose after all this time? Tried multiple times and failed. Cymbalta doesn't help the pain that I can tell, but it does help the fatigue & depression caused by having to endure chronic high level pain. Now I'm looking at trying a SCS to try bc 10 yrs later, PO meds don't work. Does anyone have a Dr. who puts SCSs in & you really feel like he's using the best (2025). My options after 10 yrs have really diminished. Does anyone have a Dr or NP who they're super comfortable with that they are in the best hands (ie one who cares?). If you developed depression and/or fatigue from the pain, I can only say for me it really helped those issues. Thanks for any referrals.

Oh man. I just got passed 2 years of chronic constipation. I cannot tolerate it. I thought Cymbalta caused diarrhea. I can deal with that better than constipation. I’m so confused…. Hard decisions.

I have chronic IBS-C so I am always backed up. I'm also on iron for anemia. I live in various states of constipation. Add in Gastroparesis (which requires a low fiber diet) and CRPS and lots of damage in my back and my life is miserable if I let things get out of tune. I take a low dose oxy and duloxetine (90 mg) and Pregamblin. I noticed the Duloxetine helps with my nerve pain but causes me to be tired all the time.

I could not take gaba. But the cymbalta has helped upend the dosage this month as was having a bad flare and so far it has helped! I am hoping the increased dosage helps a lot as this flare has lasted for more than a month.

Cymbalta did not help me and it gave me severe diarrhea

Cymbalta is really for depression. Yes, it does help build the serotonin in your brain which helps to numb your pain factor but it was not originally made for nerve pain or pain in the general. I am also a bipolar patient. But since I've been using Opiodsfor non acute chronic pain it also helps with my bipolar condition. Because both medications help build serotonin in your brain. Doctors prescribe antidepressant for pain because they don't wanna keep up with the paperwork that the DEA require

It mad me feel nauseous and spacey. No help, but I did not give it more than a week! I don’t do well on antidepressants, so maybe not a fair view?!

Opiods should only be used for severe pain. Was on them for 30 years, nearly killed me. Try marijuana
Cymbalta has saved me. NOTHING to do w DEA

When you take Opiod, the doctor has to keep perfect records for the DEA. Any anti depressant that is prescribe does not require a doctor to keep detail records on each patient as compared to Opiods. Any anti depressant medication or marijuana but nothing for my Chronic pain level. My pain level is a constant 8, with breakthrough pain spike that increase my pain to 8.5 . That is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I wish it was all a dream.
I have a high tolerance body for medication and pain level. I non acute pain is severe pain levels. I am dealing with 26 chronic conditions that all came diabetic autonimic peripheral polyneuropathy . when dealing with neuropathy, there is not one medication that fits. It all depends on the prices tolerance in how severe your condition is.

Cymbalta could have killed me twice had I not called 911 and got to the ER. Low blood sodium and serotonin syndrome are both life threatening and known side effects of Cymbalta. My husband has taken it for years with no problems.
