Frequent bleeding from the rectum when having a bowel movement.

Posted by roderuner2 @roderuner2, Apr 18 5:58pm

I am retired living in a retirement facility. I have been told by the attendants that I have hemorides. Two years ago I had prostate cancer.
I went through radiation and now I undergo various medical treatments for after effects.
I have been continued bleeding during bowel movements.
After reading some of your descriptions, I wonder if I might have a continued Cancer problem.

you need to see a doctor, you may just have hemorrhoids but it is not verified by exam, tests, or any scan, you write you undergo non related medical treatments, for these treatments do you see a physician? If yes, please voice your issues, and call your prostate oncologist for further help.

make notes for your appointment -
about when it started
any other symptoms besides bleeding

Have you had a colonoscopy recently? If not, you should as soon as possible and make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. You may want your doctor to do an ultrasound of your abdomen and recheck your prostate and bloodwork.

@roderuner2, have you seen a doctor in the meantime? Did you get any answers about the blood or further testing?

Hi roderunner2,
2 years ago my doctors said I have hemorrhoids but I just felt something wasn’t right due to pencil thin feces with a strange orange/red hue, and minor bloating and nausea. I also felt like I shouldn’t be so tired as I am only 74. I independently purchased a $949 galleri blood test in Dec 2024. My gut instinct was correct. Blood test showed dna for anal cancer. Medicare HMO plan testing indicated stage 3 with metastasis to distant lymph nodes. I just started 6 weeks radiation with chemo in weeks 1 and 5. You know your body. Listen to your instincts, and pursue whatever testing is available to you.

My husband developed radiation proctitis about a year after proton radiation, confirmed by colonoscopy. Symptom was rectal bleeding.
