I would like to hear about new nodes found in last 8 months?
I've had 2 prior cancers, Advanced Prostate cancer and Upper Tract Urothelial Cancer in last 4 years. 40 pack year smoker age 65. In August , 2024 I had 1-5mm node. On 3/19/25, I had a 1cm spiculated node in right upper lobe with 3 more nodes 4 and 5mm in same lobe. I also had 3 nodes in upper left lobe that were 3mm and 2-4mm and scattered nodes in mid and lower lobes. On 4/15/25 during Cardiac CT, they found a new 9mm node in left upper lobe and a new 6mm node in right upper lobe. I have 15+ new nodes in 8 months, including the single new 9mm node in upper left lobe in less than a month since the chest CT done on 3/19/25. I'm very concerned at the rapid development of these new nodes that didn't show just 8 months ago. I am scheduled for an ION CT Scan, whatever that is on May 1st, a PET Scan on May 1st and a Consult with a pulmonary Specialist also on May 1st. Needless to say I'm very afraid. I've lost 2 friends to rapid moving cancers, they both died within a month of diagnosis. My single kidney is functioning with moderate damage, so I'm also wondering if that might rule out some aggressive treatments, once I have a final diagnosis. I'd be grateful for any responses I receive.

PET scan is very good, shows if there’s activity around these nodes. I have 4 nodes that have been PET scanned every 6 months (since 5/2023), and as the activity level has not changed, next PET scan will be 12/2025. Sometimes there are precancerous nodes in lungs that remain dormant quite awhile or forever. These Mayor Clinic support pages have been very helpful and informative for me. I hope all the best for you!
Thank you Tessa. I appreciate you sharing your experience with PET Scans. I'm just more afraid than I thought I'd be since I've had so many new nodes develop in just 8 months. I went rom a single 5mm node in August of 2024 to more than a dozen found on 3/19/2025 , including the 1 cm spiculated node in my right upper lobe. And on top of that , in less than 30 days, I had a new 9mm node in left upper lobe and another 6mm node in right upper lobe found on 4/15/2025 Can anyone share any information about new nodes developing that fast ?
Hello I have CT Scans every 6 months and I have Stage 4 Liver Cancer. I have spots throughout (inside) my liver greater than 12. Once you get those scans done you will know more but I think do some research on your type of cancer and stay connected to this site for emotional support because trust me you’re not the only one that’s scared because I am too. But try and stay positive 🙏🏽
cu2 @cu2 Thank you for your message. I do stay on top of everything that I can. I research quite a lot on my own. This one has me really scared, as I've lost 2 friends to lung cancer and both of them had a fast moving cancer that took their life within a month of diagnosis. I won't know which type I have until 5/1/25 or later. That's when I'm scheduled for an ION CT Scan, a Pet Scan and also a Consult with a Pulmonary Specialist on the same day. I will pray for you and I hope you recover from your Liver Cancer.
God Bless You
@guyjeff123, even though you've been down this road of being diagnosed with cancers previously, watching your friends pass away from lung cancer has to make this more difficult. As a reminder, there are many types of lung cancer, and each of us can react to them differently too. Your team is taking great next steps. The scans will help get an idea or what's there now and what they want to do next. I'm sure May 1st can't come soon enough for you. The waiting can be the most helpless feeling. How are you feeling, are you noticing any symptoms?
I'm feeling very weak and tired all the time. I'm on oxygen every night, but small exertion, like making my bed, often leaves me out of breath. I am coughing up thick mucus (plugs) 20 or more times per day. I feel a mild pressure in my chest almost all my waking hours. As for the waiting, you're right, May 1st can't get here fast enough. Thank you for your understanding and sharing about what I'm going through. I am afraid that I won't survive this. With only one kidney, and depending on what type of cancer they determine it is, I am probably not going to be a candidate for any aggressive forms of treatment. Especially lung resection or Lobe removals. On top of the kidney problem, I have Congestive Heart Failure and a host of other comorbidities'. The one thing I'm hopeful for is a Miracle. I am a Christian and I know God can cure me, if it's His Will to do so. Other than that, I just don't know what to expect until they determine what type of cancer it is.
Thank you and God Bless You.
@guyjeff123, I know it's tough to get into radiology and providers, but I do wish your tests were sooner. Be sure to call your doctor, or get yourself to an emergency room, if things seem to be getting worse or if you feel the doctors don't know the extent of your symptoms. It's not a time to keep this to yourself, be honest with your team. Hugs and prayers.
Thank you Lisa for the words of encouragement. Today has been a tough day. I think I let depression get the best of me. I slept all afternoon and that's not a good thing. I have too much time on my hands and need to occupy it with something positive. Me complaining about too much time right now seems like an oxymoron. I don't really have many symptoms except I am tired all the time, and chronic anemia is another of my health conditions. I assure you that if any new symptoms appear, I will go to the ER. God bless you for caring enough to write to me.
