Hi,
My BMB was on 2/4/25 and was painless with only the local the NP gave me. My results on my blood labs that day were very strange though and made it seem like I was going south with counts dropping although I had done absolutely no treatment strangely enough. ( I was diagnosed by O/H on 1/10/25 with ET which she changed to Myelofibrosis on 2/101/25 ). I felt fine through BMB and afterwards and have had two blood labs afterwards monthly twice apart that show I do not have declining red cell counts at all😊. I do have high platelets still and slightly lower but still high white cell counts. Other than that, all my labs of which they run many, are just normal. I continue to report that I feel just fine and have absolutely no symptoms. I appreciate all those comments expressing concern that for me. I am very aware that high platelets give higher risk for thrombosis, blood clots, and even bleeding; however, I have normal BP for which I measure every morning on a new approved BP monitor I purchased which measures mine the same as my old one. I am now taking baby aspirin daily painlessly. 😊. I am CALR so low risk for thrombosis .😊 I do believe lots of exercise like I have done for so many years (thanks to my daughter having us do it daily) helps me feel well, and exactly the same as always before any MPN diagnosis,
I always sleep well, have no pain although I do have painless swollen right ring finger proximal inter phangeal joint and right stereo-clavicular joint. I also was sent to the rheumatologist who did labs on me which all turned out normal and she stated she did not know what I had. I do agree that MPNs put the body on high alert for inflammation. I just do not understand why labs checking for inflammation turn out normal like C-reactive protein and ESR although mine were only checked once unlike the many other labs. Is it maybe because I have had the painless joint inflammation in those two joints now for a few years now? Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Prayers for all and thanks for reading this.

CT really not needed. Definitely an uncomfortable test but with a good local anesthesia it is tolerable. The CT really is unnecessary as the sample site is easier to palpate.

It should be noted CT scans are not risk free and should be based on need.

I've had 3 in the last year.

"Justification and Optimization:
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center recommends that CT scans should be justified and optimized, meaning they should only be used when medically necessary and with the lowest possible radiation dose.
Multiple Scans:
Radiologyinfo.org states that there is no general limit to the number of CT scans a person can have, but the potential risk increases with the number of scans.
In summary, while CT scans carry a small risk of increasing the likelihood of cancer, this risk is typically low and often outweighed by the diagnostic benefits. "
