Anastrazole and teeth problems
Has anyone else had teeth problems while taking the Anastrazole? I have been taking it since 8/2021 but my teeth are suddenly chipping and cracking. My front teeth feel different as well. I was told I have to take it for 10 years and am afraid by the end I won't have teeth left - lol! Any comments would be welcome.
Take care!!

That must be what has happened to my teeth. I had to stop taking AIs after a year. My sides were making my life he'll. Since my ILC was caught very early and I had a DMX my onco took me off. I started with Anestrozole and changed after 6 months to exemestane. It's been at least 6 months since I've stopped. My teeth have definitely shifted. Every time I eat, no matter what it is, between almost evey back and side tooth I have food crammed between them. This just started within the last few months. I never put it together with taking the AIs, but I bet it's related.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It's hard enough to fight thru cancer but then to deal with this as well. My Oncologist has told me there is another medication besides Anastrazole. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and she was worried about joint pain. She takes a yearly bone density test. I spoke to my dentist about all of these new issues and they said radiation can also affect your teeth. I'm not really sure what is the cause but there has been a big change in the health of my teeth. Wishing you the best. Stay strong!
I finished radiation July 2024, so I'm a few months short of a year post radiation and almost a year on Anastrazole. I recently was having lunch and bit into a steak taco and fractured a tooth! It literally split straight down the middle! Talk about Crazy pain!!!! Long story short my dentist said that radiation weakens the teeth. There was probably some under lying issue with that tooth because it's been a few years since I've been to the dentist mainly because I had to drop my insurance, but he was pretty certain the radiation was a culprit. It
I’ve had radiation & chemo more than once & my teeth have definitely suffered. My long time DDS definitely blames it on chemo. No sure how he feels about radiation. My front tooth broke off at the gum-line.

Hi. I just started Anastrozole last week. Haven't read up on it a whole lot but only saw the basic side effects. I would think that maybe your calcium levels are low if teeth issues? Have you had a DEXA scan? Do you take calcium / Vit D?
