I’ve had tinnitus for many years now, and I have slight hearing loss. My triggers are barometric pressure with the weather changing and higher levels of stress. They both increase the severity. However, sometimes, for no reason at all, the loudness decreases. Hang in there.
Are you taking medication I noticed after my back durgery I stopped hydrocodone and was put on Percocet for about 8 days the tinnitus was a little louder than normal and then when I switched back to hydrocodone it has gotten louder hopefully it lets up soon
You may want to go to the website of The American Tinnitus Association. http://www.ata.org for information on research, experiences, etc.
Tinnitus is often associated with hearing loss, but not always.
ATA often provides information about research programs that are looking for people to be a part of the studies. Perhaps being a research subject might interest you.
Learn to live with it. No one, so far, has a cure, no matter what you read!!
It has turned
Even louder.
Nothing is helping.
1. From now on protect your hearing by wearing earplugs at ALL noisy places. Especially at work, because its usually for 8 hours or more. Bars and concerts are also places where you should wear earplugs as well as noisy restaurants.
2. Be careful of medications, drugs, alcohol. Some say caffeine as well but I found it never made my tinnitus worse. Salt is a possible culprit. Searches on the internet about ototoxic drugs will help you see if some on the list of these medications are ones you take. If so speak to your doctor about a trial to see if they are actually affecting you. Not all the drugs on the list will bother everybody.
3. Hearing aids are a great help to some people. Masking sounds like nature sounds are a great help to me especially at night to help me sleep. I put music or nature sounds at a low level on my Sony Walkman and fall asleep to these sounds. It takes a little practice but most nights it works.
4. I have heard that there are a couple of medications that SOME people claim helps their tinnitus somewhat. This is pregabalin max dosage and amitriptyline 25 mg. One must never drive or operate machinery when taking this and the evidence is strictly anecdotal. It leaves most people sleepy until you get accustomed to the drugs.
5. I am not a medical professional and I am not recommending that you take the these medications. I am just a fellow tinnitus sufferer that, like you has loud form of tinnitus. Good luck finding some solutions that help you.
6. Seeing an audiologist who specializes in assessing your hearing and tinnitus is one of the most important things that you can do to help yourself.

Have you been to an ear, nose and throat specialist and have you had a recent hearing test?
Do you notice any triggers that make it worse? Do you have high blood pressure? Do you sleep well? Do you smoke/vape? Do you drink coffee? Do you feel stressed more recently?
Do you have any other symptoms like headaches or neck pain/tension?
