Facial flushes followed by tingling tightness of facial skin and more
78 year old small thin female previously in good health and body. “Small” pneumonia in February, given doxycycline then azithromycin. Intense facial flushes then started about 2-3 times daily. Flushes were followed as they subsided by tingling tightness of facial skin and then lower jawline glands feeling swollen and aching. Doc did every blood test imaginable including numerous thyroid. All results in normal range. Have had dental x-rays and thorough otolaryngology exams. Will be seeing a dermatologist and then possibly a neurologist.
Anyone had experience with anything like this?? Pcp is baffled and sending me here and there to specialists.

It could be tied to viruses. Some lay dormant in our nerves and get activated with stress or illness.
Did you have covid or any other illness after pneumonia? Did you have any vaccinations in the last few months?
Did your doctor test you for viruses? If your glands are swollen, your body may be still fighting infection. Swollen glands could also be pressing on nerves in your neck/face.
Did you have any vaccinations ultrasound of your neck? It may be good to get a MRI of head and neck if this continues.
Strange I read this ….last Wednesday (9th Aor.) I had 16 teeth extracted via IV Sedation- was surprised how good I felt which continued into Thursday and Friday - Sat.am came along, my face was like a beetroot, so extremely hot, high colour, felt like a face fever- by later in the pm the high colour had subsided somewhat- was on Amoxcillin- i am an 83 year old, up until the day of surgery I was extremely nervous, tense and anxious about this whole procedure - it us Wed. and although the high
colour was back just for s bit this am, still hasn’t left me completely and I was done the antibiotics yesterday at supper time.
Along with the above, I feel very off balance and have very shaky legs.
Just wondering if this is all part of the course? Have sutures in all 16 teeth!
Would love if an oral surgeon is around to answer this question? Live in Ontario, Canada. Thank you!
