I have been having trouble digesting my food I hear it gurgling in my stomach. I have trouble going to the bathroom . Had scope they say it may be Barretts esophagus. Can Coffee cause this. It causes me to have a hard time swallowing and cough up some phlegm at times. Any help would be appreciated

Hi. Can you tell me how long you had GERD prior to your Barretts Diagnosis? How was it diagnosed? Thanks!
I can’t remember exactly how long I had Gerd before my diagnosis, maybe 2 years? My doctor who did my colonoscopy also did my endoscopy. She diagnosed my Barretts, after a couple years the tissue from my esophagus connecting to my stomach was turning brown in color which was a sign it could turn to cancer. She had recommended me to a specialist for 4 RFA’s (radio frequency ablations) that basically does away with the brown tissue and kills it so pink new tissue can grow back. The RFA’s were spaced apart like 6mos apart if I remember correctly? So the new tissue could come back. Hopefully you can understand this stuff. Best of luck !!🙏
It was not that long I started getting symptoms a couple of years ago. When I started having digestive problems it was related to my stomach problems. It's been about 2 weeks since I had the endoscopy and colonoscopy. They took a biopsy. Hopefully it's ok. My next vist the doctor says he will go over his plan to treat this. It really has come on suddenly. I got diagnosed with both at the same time. My case may be different but it's causing me to have insomnia as well.
They have new treatments with surgery that can make your symptoms go away. I may be wrong but I don't think Barretts goes away. Depending on the severity of the Barretts they want you to get the endoscopy yearly
My last 2 scopes showed no BE.
But you had it before that?
Yes my GI doctor said my esophagus looked like a shag carpet. I also had h pylori.
I refuse to give up my morning coffee. I drink 2 cups of healthwise low acid coffee with unsweetened almond milk as a creamer. Almond milk is alkaline so my coffee should be very low acid. I do take omperazole daily. That’s what my GI doctor said to do.
Is that decaffeinated or regular healthwise coffee you buy at Amazon? I see they have both. Thank you
Not sure if it goes away. I get scoped every couple years.
