Geographical location affects you mentally?
Has anyone move to a new geographical and after they got there was mentally uncomfortable, things didn't go well, they didn't make good decisions, etc.. But where you used to live was nothing like that?

@SusanEllen66 do you remember why it had been lowered?
I believe she does.
@rashida, yes. Every year on September 11, the American flag is lowered to honor the memory of the people who died on 911.
@robertwills dementia comes in all shapes and sizes. For some of us it’s a rollercoaster. There is decline…improve, and then go down hill again, the up…
My own is slowly revealing itself, and until it does show more symptoms, my doctors ard not able to give me a diagnosis yet. They are leaning towards Frontotemporal Dementia. It’s the type actor Bruce Willis has.
Anyway, for yourself, there are so many informative videos on YouTube for the Caretaker. Some of the ones I have seen is called, “Careblazers”, and others by Teepa Snow. She is an expert! An organization named Dementia Action Alliance DAA is helping me. I attend ZOOM meetings with them.
There is a group here on Mayo Connect for Caretakers.
Your family member is blessed to have you.
@SusanEllen66 of course! I should have known that - that was a stupid question on my part!
I thought you might be testing her cognitive ability. Maybe you need to be tested! Maybe I do, too!
@robertwills no Robert, I do not play such games. I can be pretty clueless sometimes, and at those times something very obvious can just go over my head.
@robertwills I don’t require any more testing. I’m alive and kicking.
I live in Reserve NM. Moved to Albuquerque NM in 2021 with my husband. He retired in 2023 so we bought an rv and now live in Reserve NM. My life long home state was MO.The climate in NM is an ongoing adaption to change. The poltical environment the scapegoating etc is getting to me. I would not move or leave except to be closer to health care and my husband and I are discussing and trying to plan. Life is not what it was like 20 years ago. Not even like it was in 2019. I just want everyone to be safe at peace and healthy for as long as possible.I do think something bad has happened to humanity in the US.Something very toxic and negative
These times are indeed vastly different and the feeling of safety anywhere, in including in my home, are gone. I don't think we actually felt safe back then because there was absolutely no danger so how could we know what "safe" was?. For example, I remember when the doorbell rang, everyone in my family would literally run to the door to find out who it was, be the first there to greet them and not even look out the peephole!. We just immediately opened the door with big smiles on our faces. That was many years ago. Today if the doorbell rings everyone inside looks around nervously, we whisper "Who could that be?" and we try to sneak a peak out a window to see who it is. What a difference! What a way to live! What in the world happened?
There are lots of people though trying to bring back, and increase, happiness and they way it used to be. I try to do it in all my social interactions but the problem is it's often not reciprocated.
