@sisyphus

I do not refuse that kiss
because you lick a sugar cane
but because sugar cane is practice

by Ammianus, in the book, The Infinite Moment
(Seems our we can trace our penchant for humor (levity? Anti-gravity?) with those ancient Greeks)

And nobody is more familiar with the effects of gravity than Sisyphus.

Keep pushing that stone uphill!

The Greeks had a fundamental understanding of gravity half a millennium before Christ was born. The Mayans not only had a well-developed concept of gravity, but used it to formulate a fundamental understanding of celestial mechanics and develop very accurate celestial timetables, calendars, etc. They get short shift in most history books, but knew stuff that Newton and Kepler are credited for discovering as much as 1,000 years later. That's no joke.

Ammianus with you, Sisyphus: his stuff's all Greek to me!
