I have episodes of SVT several days a month . I know when it happens as I become very tired and take my carotid pulse and I can palpate the irregularity. I have nodules in my lungs from a mycobacterial avian complex infection several years ago . I become short of breath and I need to just lay down after doing the manuveurs recommended . I take Cardiazem 240 mg every morning and I still get episodes . I take Lasix 20 mg to ease my lungs and it helps a great deal . I did also take Verapamil prn when I had SVT episodes but ,recently , I consulted with an electro physicist for cardiology and he told me to stop the use of Verapamil. I am curious if anyone takes a med to halt the arrhythmia when they continue despite the maneuvers . I am 76 and when I have episodes it stops me from doing anything because of the severe fatigue.

I too have SVT and, just like you, several times a month. Unfortunately, mine have lasted a bit longer. I can be in tach rhythm for a up to 2 days. My cardiologist has me taking metoprolol, lisinopril and Hctz. He gave me a prescription for Diltiazem (called it a pocket pill) to take if these episodes continue for more than a few hours. I was originally diagnosed with SVT after many test along with the ZIO heart monitor. I then went months with no episodes at all. It appeared the meds were working then they weren’t . Now I just recently had one that lasted on and off for 3 days. None of the ‘maneuvers’ worked. It is exhausting. I afraid to make plans only to gave to csncel. My cardiologist sent me to see the head of the Heart Center in my area to discuss an ablation. I now have another ZIO monitor on 2 weeks. Now I hoping I have an episode so it will register….lol. I’m not afraid of the ablation. I know it 95% successful. I am 78 and was only diagnosed with SVT 2 years ago.
