Head feels like it will explode daily. Severe cognitive difficulties
I have been dealing with constant head pressure in the back of my head for over a year. It has gradually gotten worse over time, and with this negative development came decreased cognitive function as well. I am not as sharp as I used to be, and my memory is extremely poor. I also cannot seem to feel joy anymore no matter how positive my mindset is. Bear in mind that I am only an 18-year-old male, so I am still young. I often find myself zoning out in my own thoughts as the pressure and pain gets worse. I am hardly present in the current moment; therefore, I really struggle to be mindful and live in the present at all times. As I type this, I find myself struggling to sharply think of how to compose this message. Anyway, the symptoms don't stop with my head. I also feel like I'm out of breath when I talk, and I have on-and-off debilitating anxiety that really gets me down in the dumps. Also, my limbs will just feel restless and achy randomly without any clear explanation. I have seen many doctors and found no relief. Pain killers and supplements are futile. I have only had an MRI laying down, but no chiari malformation was spotted, nor were there any other abnormalities. This chronic pain I deal with in my head makes me deal with a huge mental challenge from day to day. I have gone through the psychiatric route and have found no relief either, despite numerous therapy sessions and numerous (5-6) antidepressant medications. Currently, I struggle mentally from day to day and dread each day. I go to bed as early as I can (8:00 PM) to escape the chronic symptoms. All in all, these symptoms make me feel like I am going insane. I am so desperate for my life back and I know living life is worth so much... that is why I am still here typing this message. However, I cannot live like this forever... this is UNBEARABLE and I need help. Any thoughts?

So are you suggesting that I eliminate histamines in my diet to see if something changes with my symptoms?

You could check with a cardiologist or vascular specialist to ask about your carotid artery health/blood flow. You may benefit from a cardiovascular exam due to your symptoms and having Covid/covid shot.
You may want to consider an EEG. It would just check your electrical activity in your brain to see if something shows that could be behind son of your symptoms. Definitely check the brain mri report in detail for impressions of any brain matter and vascular changes.
Some of your symptoms can me tied to your cervical spine. Have you ever had an injury in sports or fallen? You should see if your neurologist would consider sending you for a cervical spine MRI and referral you to an orthopedic specialist if anything shows up. Any compression of spinal cord, nerve roots and nerves can affect blood flow to brain and spinal cord.

Did you have any major event happen in your life that may have triggered your change in health?
Keep in mind that the Covid spike protein and Covid mRNA shot have been found to affect teen boys/young men and their cardiovascular health. I did not get my son vaccinated due to his heart defect but he had Covid 2 times (2021 and 2022). He seems to now have some long COVID symptoms that have worsened over the last year or so. Not sure if this could be behind some of your symptoms.
Hoping keeping that type of diary will point out what you are possibly reacting to as seems no rhyme or reason each persons body reactions. My body accumulates certain foods histamine throughout day no matter what counter measure foods I eat like quercetin containing apples. This was proven by my cpap headgear literally tighter and middle of night symptoms from that common histamine release time that was verified by cpap/sleep study monitoring🙃 Healthcare system post covid trained nutritionist hopefully available thru patient advocate to assist finding answers and providing supporting medical record info to further your care thru pcp ordered verifying tests 🤞. Hope this explained well🌈
Since you mention the cervical spine, do you think CCI could be possible? I've heard that vagus nerve compression ties into CCI which could contribute to some of my symptoms. As for your question, I was in the marching band and once fell over back first with a drum on. Other than that, no injuries.
I reviewed my MRI results, and the results are clear. My ventricles are normal in size and position. The only abnormality is a mucosal cyst or polyp in the left sinus. I got the polyp checked out by an ENT doctor who said that it was nothing to worry about.
I had a girlfriend as my symptoms began to develop. She was an added stressor more than she was a benefit to my life, so I ended things with her at the beginning of last year. Symptoms did not improve afterwards. I have been single for over a year now.
I'm curious. Are you able to help your son with these symptoms? And is he able to function? I didn't mention this but I haven't been able to go to school in my current state, so I'm just wondering how he's doing in that regard.
Nathan, you seem clear that whatever stress you feel is a normal response to health issues. Shortness of breath while speaking is a significant clue since doesn't seem to be anxiety issued.
I'm not experienced, so
If I were in your situation I would ask for imaging studies with gadolinium contrast to help rule out spinal fluid leakage.
Shortness of breath while speaking can be one of the symptoms, especially when found in the presence of headache located in the back of the head that worsen toward evening.
I have had a spinal tap if that rules out a spinal/CSF leak. I am not sure though.

You should definitely get your cervical spine checked due to your fall on your back with the drums.
@nathansmith7143
What did you have the spinal tap for? My son had one when he was a toddler. How long ago did you have this done? This could be the source of a CSF leak.
