Mysterious shortness of breath: What has helped you?

Hey everyone, new here but this is by far the most responses I’ve seen on any forum sites related to this matter. A little bit of my backstory, I am 27 years old and first dealt with this issue back in 2017 when I was 19. I don’t know where or how it started but I just remember having a feeling in my neck that would cause me to yawn or take a deep breath every few breaths. Whenever I couldn’t get that feeling I would feel my body go into full panic mode until I can get that satisfaction, just for it to start up again. At the beginning this was something very hard for me, I would say for the first year it had me completely at its mercy. Something clicked when I got with my current partner and from the years 2019-present although the issue is still there it was a lot easier to manage. In that time I’ve continued my relationship, graduated college, started driving, traveled. All while still having this flare up from time to time but I felt good because I had very good control of it. I’ve never done any follow up on this issue after all these years because I always had an idea it was anxiety related and as mentioned above the last few years have been relatively good.

Fast forward present day, the last I would say month to month and a half have been absolutely brutal. I have not being able to push this off to the side as I have in years past and it’s even started effecting my day to day activities such as driving. A couple of weeks ago my partner and I went on vacation and the plane ride was unbearable, constantly taking a deep breath or trying to yawn to satisfy that feeling in my neck. It’s taken a toll on me mentally because my partner’s never seen this side and I’m worried it’s effecting her. I have been driving around still but I get in my head about car rides now and instantly start panicking when I’m in my car and feel this. The reason I decided to finally post in a place like this is to ask for advise. I know I’ve done it in the past but it’s been so difficult recently. I’m hoping to get good ideas on what to do to get back control of this, I accepted this issue a while ago and was living well with it but I do not want it to have control over me in this way. Any advice would help!

Have someone check ur PHRENIC NERVE OR YOUR SPINE

Much of this sounds like something I would've written @luisc9801! I can related to many things- from the feeling of sheer panic from not getting a deep breath, to the feeling of anxiety of being "boxed in" on an airplane or in the car.

Have you seen any doctors or talked to any doctors about this recently? Starting the process of talking to a doctor and getting tests done, would help in beginning to rule some things out. There's so many things that relate to breathing, whether directly or indirectly. E.g., some people develop certain things later on in life like asthma, exercise-induced asthma, nutrient deficiencies, anxiety/panic, GI issues, etc., that could possibly contribute to this mystery.
