So sorry that you're dealing with these issues @singledad42. There's an answer- we're just in the middle of finding it. It sounds like there might be a link with the spine issue. When you attempt to take a deep breath, do you feel a sharp pain?

It sounds like you're wanting to seek out a solution for your back issues. Have you reached out to a specialist or been referred to one by your doctor? I think breathing exercises might help, but given your situation you might tread carefully. I would suggest resisting the urge to take a deep breath as much as possible and you might find that the feeling subsides some and you won't need to take as many deep breaths. But I think relaxation breathing exercises and slow breathing exercises might do some good.

I definitely try to not take deep breaths as much as I can and when my back starts to hurt and pinch and burn it does get so much. Worse so I’m to be scheduled this week to get a referral to a spine doctor but I’m terrified that if it is the phrenic nerve that it might sever and I’d be screwed and stuck with this forever. I’m a single father of three and have to work I don’t have a choice, I I fail then my kids and I won’t have a house to live in. It’s scary, but now I lay on my back as much as I can and sit when I can to not agitate my back anymore than it needs to be
