You know what? "Misery loves company" is one of my sister sayings!
OK. Lots of us have sleep problems.
I do. I am sorry you do too. Here is my deal...I can, only at times, with drugs, sleep about 4.5 hours. That is all. Maybe, better than you it seems? I know why, but I have tried for 20 years to reverse it, but "NO GO".
Here is what happened TO ME...My OBGYN Doctor put me on a drug when I was in the "change of life" to help me sleep. OK. It worked. The next few years, I asked and asked, year after year if I could stop the medication? He got angry, and said, "My wife takes it, isn't that good enough for YOU?" (geez)
Finally after the 15 years, he called me and actually said that there was "new information" out, and I should stop the drug. So then, when I finally did stop, so did my falling asleep!! After that, I did a "Sleep Study", ALL kinds of everything under the sun to try to sleep without a pill. YEARS of that!! No luck, 25 years later, still big problem going to sleep. Absolutely NO sleep without an aid of some kind!!
Sorry you have that situation as well. We know we are not alone. This site proves it!! I really do understand!!
Thanks to my Doctor for not knowing what he advises. I did not hear an "I'm sorry!" from him. At least he called with new information. Maybe his wife divorced him?
Best for a Doc to say, " I do NOT know". He sounded so ABSOLUTE!
I feel your pain!!
Maybe something new will be found!!
Best Wishes!!

I can’t sleep without 2 10 mg tablets of melatonin and about 1/2 cup of warm cow’s milk. If I can’t fully relax I start counting backwards from 100 or 1000. I don’t know how far I get because I fall asleep. That works for me.

fala, I guess you should have kept taking whatever sleep medication you were on for 15 years. At least you slept good. I'm a big advocate for sleep health. And if it takes a sleep med/aid to get proper sleep.... it's worth it. Don't understand people being against sleep meds. They just don't get it. Getting enough quality sleep is crucial to our overall physical and mental health. Why don't you ask your doctor if you can try other sleep medications? It'd be worth it to find a med that works for you. Good luck
