Has anyone experienced incontinence after HOLEP surgery ?

Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope to improve my quality of life with HOLEP procedure and not have a complete urine shut down in my 80s or 90s. Who wants to wear a catheter for one's last days?

Sounds like HOLEP didn't work for you. Chained to a Catheter Bag.

No. I meant I chose not to go back to work , because I was not going to my job with a catheter on. I held on in pain and risked infection until I got the Holep done. It worked way better than everyone expected. Myself and Drs were pleasantly surprised.

Friends, I hope to have the HOLEP procedure this year, 2025 at UC Davis, Sacramento, CA. I am concerned and preparing for pain from urination post-surgery. My wife referenced Pyridium to help with burning and stinging while peeing. Worth a try. I am 75YO and have had 5 different kinds of surgery and the procedures to me are not the big concern but pain management. Hope to play golf again without peeing at every tree stump.

I am pushing 79 and am a week past my HoLEP. At +day5 the blood in my diaper was +95% gone. As for pain, yes. The first attempt at urinating at home was painful. I'm not holding back, here. VERY painful. BUT, I did not take the medicine. I recommend doing whatever it takes to avoid the pain. The second bathroom visit was only slightly painful, very manageable and the pain has been getting less and less painful since then. Take the meds and let us know how it went.

Thank you sharing your experience. It is good to hear from someone close to my age. I am waiting for Medicare to approve the procedure. Ouch on the pain scenario! Sorry. I am a big advocate for pain killers and stool softeners for the constipation after-effects. Lincess should work. Pat.

I had my prostrate removed at 70 21 years ago and fighting incontinence ever since finally could not keep my pants dry after 2 hours so had PROACT surgery one week ago today and working at 99% so feeling really good today.
