Best home air purifiers of 2025

I’ve been researching the best home air purifiers for the past few days because i need one to improve indoor air quality. i read reviews on The New York Times, Consumer Reports, and Ratings, and they are marking these two as the best:

Coway Airmega AP-1512HH

BLUEAIR Blue Pure 211i Max

However, i am having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and need your expert advice.

in my home, i have a pet, seasonal allergies, and live in an area with occasional smoke from wildfires. I need a purifier that effectively removes dust, pet dander, pollen, and odors while covering a large area.

Which one should I buy? Any recommendations will be appreciated!

Thnaks in advance!

my room is about 400 square feet. how much area Coway Air Mega 200 is covering?

Jump to this post

The Coway Air Mega 200 covers 1748 cubic feet of space per their web site. If your ceilings are 8 feet tall, that translates to about 200 square feet (less if you have tall ceilings.) It is rated for a medium-sized room. This is the calculation to use if you are seeking maximum filtering capacity.
Ideally air exchange for the best results should be 3-4X per hour.

I've had air filters from E L Foust as recommended by my doctor. They are made without plastic or adhesives for those with issues of outgassing. They are not fancy and models do not change from year to year. I have both the 400 model which is easier to maintain and filter lasts a LONG time if you keep changing the outer filter (like a furnace filter), and the 160R2 which requires carbon granules to be repacked and a felt like HEPA layer to be changed usually every 6 months. You can buy them prepacked and return the filter for credit. If you pack it yourself, do that outside because it is a dirty dusty job and you don't want to inhale any of it.

@scoop

Hi, @scoop - Wow, I must admit it would not have occurred to me to try and make my own air purifier. Have you done this?
