My neuropathy isn't as bad as yours but I have found little help from the medical field, even from the neurology people. I take gabapentin and it helps somewhat. My balance is bad and my legs are weak. I just started PT and hope it helps strengthen my legs. I don't understand the lack of support from the medical people. Good luck with everything. It sounds like you need to do a little research to find a neurologist that works with neuropathy. I had to do that because I wasn't getting real answers. All the doctors kept saying that they had no knowledge to help me. I went to several Neurology associations to get a list of neurologists in my area. I found a great neurologist and accepted that I have to travel outside my area.
My new neurologist got a comprehensive history of my family and my history of my problem then did new tests before prescribed a medication that has been very effective in relieving my pain.
