BCG and UTIs: Anyone else get urinary tract infections?

Posted by wohali @wohali, Mar 26 10:44am

I had one BGG treatment and have been unable to continue because of persistent UTIs. It's one antibiotic after another and none help. Anyone else in this situation? I am an 86 year old male and want to get on with my treatment.

Hello @wohali. I can't say that my husband had that issue. He did have one UTI but was able to clear it and continue treatment. Did they culture your urine and do a sensitivity testing to show what antibiotic would be most effective? That is what Mayo Clinic does any time my husband has a UTI possibility, especially since his neobladder surgery. Perhaps you can inquire about that with your medical team?

I catch viruses and bacterial infections easily and some have put me in the hospital for months. I told my urologist this and he said he will watch me carefully to catch any infection early.

@wohali, I hope you saw the helpful responses from @sepdvm and @peter51f.

Wohali, have you been able to continue treatment with close monitoring for infection?
