Good morning Immaculateplatz,
I'm currently going through a similar situation. I frequently was having a feeling of a lump in my throat only when swallowing and it was quite disturbing. There was no lump to be seen or felt and I had no problems eating/swallowing food.
I was concerned it could be my thyroid. Although my TSH blood work always came back normal, my PCP ordered additional more inclusive blood work for my thyroid. The TPO level came back slightly elevated. A thyroid scan was conducted which came back negative, to my relief.
I must admit that I do have a moderate hiatal hernia, so I decided to go to a Gastroenterologist and she is scheduling an endoscopy. In the meantime, she placed me on 20mg of Pantoprazole for GERD. I was only having very mild symptoms of GERD such as an occasional burping after I ate and a feeling of fullness at times. But, the Pantoprazole does seem to help significantly with the feeling of lump in the throat. She is ordering an Endoscopy but I'm waiting for insurance approval at this time. In the meantime, she also referred me to an ENT for the Globus sensation (lump in throat) and he put a scope down my nose to look at the passageways and that has come back negative.
Now, the ENT has ordered two different types of barium swallows and I'll see what the outcome of those tests are.
So, with that said, there are some test as mentioned above that you may want to speak to your PCP about.
I hope this information may be of some help, as I know the feeling of the lump in your throat is very annoying and concerning.
As we each search for answers, I wish you the best in your journey to find a solution.
CB

Thank you so much @cljjbb this is indeed helpful, I think I'll also have to opt for and endoscopy because I am really becoming more worried by the day.
