I used a Twin Cities surgeon. The femoral head and acetabular cup and liner were replaced. The new head is ceramic, the cup is titanium and the liner is a cross-linked polymer compound.
At the time mine were done in 2011, there was not a suitable liner for the chromium cobalt acetabular cup - since I was made to use without a liner, the ball would have been so small it would have a high risk of dislocation. I'm not sure what they use now.
