Hello CJ,

I know it's been a year since you posted your question, and I want to know if you still suffer from femoral nerve pain. I had a traumatic fall in 2020 that resulted in L4/L5 and S1 compression and a stretched femoral nerve. I was told the only type of femoral nerve damage that is repairable is nerve impingement. The nerve damage is extremely painful and causes mobility issues for me. The damage from the femoral nerve also causes quad atrophy and knee stiffness or instability. For treatment, I take gabapentin and do physical therapy. I also swim for strength training and use a sauna or steam room. My pain radiates from the hip, groin, and into the pelvis. I see a pain specialist and neurosurgeon. I will be starting the trial for a spinal cord pain stimulator to reduce the need for pain meds and gabapentin. I pray it works! I do realize I must live with a terrible injury, and it's helpful to have the right medical team that understands the complexity of my injuries and is empathetic to chronic pain conditions. I have good days and very difficult days; I try to be as present as possible on the good days and give myself grace (and rest) on the bad days. I remain curious about the clinical research about femoral nerve damage. There is not as much out there in comparison to other neuropathic nerve damage.

I do hope your symptoms have improved and you have a better understanding of the reason for your chronic pain.

Kindly,
Nicole

Welcome @neneruth, I'm not sure CJ @cjk is still following Connect since the member was last active in August 2024. Hopefully the member will see your post and respond. Google Scholar has quite a few research papers on femoral nerve damage that you might find interesting if not helpful - https://scholar.google.com/scholar.
