I now have chronic urticaria from taking evenity. This could be for years. I wish my doctor had more experience with this and stopped evenity after that first reaction. Probably too late even then

I came across your comment when searching for any remarks about dark under eye circles. I had my 3rd month of injections yesterday and woke up today with severe dark circles under my eyes & so weird!! Like you I need to stick with it but hoping it is temporary. How was your 9th round of injections? Have you noticed any improvement.
I also have a bad reaction after my first round (burning, pins and needles rash) the evening of my injections and into the next day. 2 weeks later I had a similar episode out of the blue. Since then I take a Benadryl before and after my injections and knock wood, it has helped (I also get my shots in my stomach rather than arms).

Did you tell your Dr about your side effects? If so, what was his response? Thanks.

Do you mean hives? How soon did they appear once you started Evenity? Did you complete all 12 shots? Does the Dr think the hives will ever go away? Thanks.

With my first shot the back pain and burning in my back was relentless, I couldn’t sit lay down comfortably nor sleep. I suffered considerably. I would get in a hot tub to try and alleviate the pain and nothing worked. I am steeling myself for my second shot however I only had about three days where I could rest but even then it still hurts. I am going to force myself. My Dr. is away on family leave and I feel lost.

Did you contact anyone at your Dr's office and, if so, what was their response?

I had my first shot of evenity in October 2024. In about a week I started to develop an itching rash, not too bad on my torso. I was hoping it would get better and had my second injection which supercharge my initial allergic reaction. Very bad, needed steroids and sill 2 months after my second shot have some itching. My warning to others is if you get a systemic allergic reaction that is beyond the injection site, consider stopping it does not get better only worse

Did you tell your Dr about the rash and, if so, what response did you get? Did you decide to stop Evenity after the 2nd shot?

My experience with Evenity is terrible joint pain. I need a hip replacement but my pain was somewhat manageable until after my first injection. I didn’t do my own homework on this drug, and my provider didn’t warn me of the possibility. I’m in excruciating pain and have to use a walker for now. It wasn’t until I looked up other side effects, other than the risk for heart attacks and strokes

I got hives after my 6th injection, about 14 of them, on my neck and upper back. It took them about 3 weeks to resolve. Very itchy. I also am resolving panniculitis around my knee. While hives are a considered possible reaction to Evenity, Panniculitis (lumps) are not, although both are considered a hyper-sensitivity, possibly accumulated, immune responses. I'm off Evenity after 6 injections, although I did get.a 7.5% increase in BMD in my spine. My Doctors mostly don't understand how Evenity, or any mab, works. My doctors seems more concerned about the hives. I'm anxious about the lumps

I did tell my doctor about the rash/sunburn like sensation (and sent her pictures). She said maybe we should try something else but my osteoporosis is severe, so I asked if I could try another month. She is the one who suggested that I do the Benadryl before and after and it has been doing the trick (at least for the past two months - I am only 3 months in). Did not mention the dark circles yet.

So sorry to hear about the uticaria. I got that in 2018 and have had to take monthly Xolair shots ever since then. I still get occasional flares.

After my first Evenity shot, I got a small flare of the hives, but that was just after the first injection. Not since the last four shots.

Ice packs help so much when there’s a hives flare. Lots of antihistamines, also. Tecnu has an over the counter itch medicine. That and the ice packs helps me more than any prescription topical. Good luck. Uticaria sucks.

How soon after starting Evenity did your pain start? Did you tell your Dr and, if so, what did they say? Also, are you going to continue taking Evenity? Thanks.
