Has anyone found treatment for peripheral neuropathy? My doctors have said there is no treatment that works. Of course I continue to search for Care as neuropathy is becoming debilitating. Walter K

I have posted this in answer to others who have peripheral neuropathy on this site. I have been using a Juice Plus product for many years. It has kept my toes and legs from becoming numb. They have encapsulated organic fruits and vegetables. The one that I use has a mixture of berries. It has many servings in each capsule. When I started I was taking just the two that is the daily dose but now I'm up to 5 or 6 a day. It takes time for it to work because it works on our cellular level in improving our circulation. It took 6 weeks before I noticed a difference in the sensation in my toes. I feel it's a miracle to have something natural that will heal us. We cannot eat enough blueberries, blackberry, strawberries, Etc. To get the same effect, there are multiple servings in these capsule. I have just recently added another product from Stonehenge called Dynamic nerve. Of course, these healthy supplements are not cheap. I do not sell Juice Plus. You can go online and check for that. The lady that helps me with the Juice Plus products is very educated in it. She's been doing it for years. I'm not sure how it's acceptable to get that information to people so they could get in touch with her. The best wishes to you. This is a difficult and progressive issue that we deal with.

I developed peripheral neuropathy just over a year ago. Apparently no one seems to know the cause. I am receiving B12 shots. 3 months ago my legs started to feel really weak and I have a lot of fatigue. Has this happened to anyone else. Emotionally I'm finding this difficult.

I read that B12 helps nerves remyelinate, i.e. regrow lost insulation. Go for it.

I tried taking magnesium for a few months, but didn't notice any improvement, so I quit taking it. You might consider taking a few supplements that might help just because of your age, unless you're already doing so.
A good multivitamin, calcium with vitamin D, a B complex, and an iron supplement. It wouldn't hurt.

Thank you. I take all of those that you mentioned every day. I hope they work for you.

Mike. 115 mg of R-Lipoic Acid is a very light dosage. If you don't feel numbness fading at all, consider increasing to 300 mg. I'm now taking 600mg and believe it is holding the advancing numbness at bay. (85-year old male.)

Are you also taking Gabapentin and, if so how much?
Thank you!!

No, no pain meds of any kind. My alcohol-induced PN involves primarily numbness in both feet extending up my legs to mid-calf. ALA with Super Vitamin B seem to reduce numbness intensity and prevent advancement up both legs. A recent trial with 50g of Biotin daily also appears to reduce the intensity of numbness. (I am an 85-year-old male, 10 years since PN was diagnosed.)

Sadly, I think what works for one person's neuropathy doesn't always help everyone else. You might want to take a look at the different treatments listed on the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy - https://www.foundationforpn.org/therapies/.

In Canada, we have naturopaths. They are accredited after a four year, post-secondary education. I think the doctors are correct about a cure for PN. At the present time there is nothing that will regenerate nerves and PN is a nerve pathway problem. If you want to look beyond traditional medicine, I suggest you have at least an initial interview with an naturopath before you start spending money on vitamins and mineral supplements. For example, many people try magnesium, but usually not at a therapeutic level. A naturopath can tell you what dosage you need and which brand is most efficacious. Personally, I do not take a multi-vitamin. It won't hurt you, but it's unlikely that any of the dosages are at the level you need to make a difference. I believe it's much better to take what you need at a therapeutic dosage. Even one trip to a naturopath will help you discover a better approach to natural treatments.
