So sorry to hear your friend is struggling with Dysphagia. My partner has been dealing with it for the last 2 years, 8 years post cancer. He had a JPEG put in to ensure nutrition, had stretching done as well as vocal cord injections to close the gap. Unfortunately we are now pondering a functional laryngectomy since his muscle no longer can move his voice box to swallow without aspiration. He spits. A lot. I did see a few support groups when I googled. May be my next place as well. We're just trying to deal with it day by day. I hope your friend has a good SPL to help with strengthening exercises. They do help, not just as much as I had hoped. My thoughts are with your friend.

Do not go to UF/Shamfs for help, my mouth was butchered there . Ove lived with extreme pain along surgical line and it is from the implanted strips used to form my Palate after Salivary Gland Cancer. My nose also leaks when I drink and whatever I eat leaves residue iny nostrils. I've been suffering for 2 yrs and I am so miserable that I only leave the house for Dr appt.
