Hi. I've got a similar problem, but with a weird twist. It started after I broke my back 6 years ago. When I'm home in our apartment in Germany I can't urinate at night without a catheter. But it's OK during the day, and at night when I'm in our house in England, and in every other place anywhere in the world. My urologist isn't interested. He just says "It's all in your head." If I could figure out what triggers it, maybe I could urinate at night in our apartment in Germany. Any ideas?

@rayjg Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Yes, this is a different type of problem to have! I'm going out on a limb here to suggest that it might be environmental induced? That is, you feel that voiding in the night could be producing interruption to someone else's rest, perhaps flushing the toilet or the sound of voiding itself? And you don't want to break the silence of the night? It's a possibility.
