Positive Evenity results
I had my DEXA scan a week ago after finishing Evenity just over a month ago. With my luck I was expecting little results. Luckily it was good! Lumbar spine went from -4.6 to -3.0 Right femoral neck from -2.9 to -2.2. All the ridiculous copays were worth it to have my spine improve that much. My new PCP (I moved 3 months ago) hadn’t gotten the report as of today, so I downloaded it from my patient portal and emailed it to her. I still have a crappy spine, but not nearly as crappy as it was. Just a tip, be persistent when you need something medical. The place I was originally referred to for the DEXA said they couldn’t get me in until mid August. Multiple calls later, I got an appointment elsewhere within a few days. When I hadn’t heard from my PCP a week after the scan I called them. I don’t know what’s next yet, rheumatologist was pushing Prolia partly because it’s once every 6 months instead of a daily pill, but I had no unmanageable side effects with alendronate and Prolia is an unknown. Thanks for reading!

I just am learning about sequecining of drugs. I just finished tymlos but still need improvement in feet to maintian my ability to walk. I was put on Actonel temporarily becasue tymlos must be followed by an antiresportive/bisphosphante is the usual choice. Actonel however is not a bone builder. Evenity was suggested (there were thoughts about prolia but I am not comfortable with that drug.) I was given information that Evenity effectveness is suppressed after taking a bisphosphante. So I am curious to hear you were recommended Evenity after 3 yrs on Reclast ( strong and long lasting bisphosphante) . Is that beacuse you took a drug holiday? Thank you and my best to you and your healing
At the beginning, I have my doubts about the drug holiday , but my doctor insisted that my DEXA scan looked good. We also needed to protect my kidneys from Reclast, so a break seemed to be a good idea. During my February 2025 visit we talked about all the medicines I used before (Fosamax, Boniva, Forteo, Prolia...), we concluded that Evenity was the best choice right now. When I was on Eventy in 2020, the improvement was amazing. We are hopping for the same results again. I have Crohn`s and gastroparesis, these GI conditions are the cause of my osteoporosis. My food intake is very restricted. The absorption of calcium and other minerals, and vitamins is compromised. I did a lot of research before using Evenity for the first time. At that time it was a brand new medicine with many side effects.
Prolia is recommended followup because it helps maintain the gains from Evenity. I am following that route. Have had Prolia before with no reactions. My next stage after 1-2 years of Prolia will be Reclast. You have to backup Evenity with other things or you lose your gains. Good luck!
Sending postive energy for healing and recoevery. May God grace guide you and protect you.
That’s exactly my path also. Evenity for 1 year and now on Prolia then will go to reclast.
I am sure someone else has already said this. But you will have more accurate results if you have your DEXA on the same machine each time. If getting an appointment is difficult, then make one at the time you visit for the prior one.
Hello everyone,
New here and receiving a lot of valuable information from you all.
I have multiple fracture in my T7 - T8 Mild -T11
I have 2 injections left of the EVENITY program and just recently discovered additional fractures not related to the initial scanning.
My questions would be - How have the people that have taken PROLIA following EVENITY fared in regards to building back some bone density ?
What if any side effects?
Did the bone density decrease once off PROLIA ?
I am from British Columbia and would like to get DEXA testing , can you get a referral from your GP or do you need to pay out of pocket?
Does anyone have any positive feedback in regards to shock wave therapy , magneto transduction therapy , or a marodyne low intensity vibration treatment ?
I have an amazing Physiotherapist who I have just recently started seeing and for the first time getting positive , constructive advice and a very thorough and safe workout regiment for my specific issues.
Thank you to anyone who responds with any advice , feedback and remarks.
All the best to you all , and look forward to hearing back from you all.
Alvin
Just started Evenity in February 2025. Luckily insurance covers so I pay nothing. 2nd injection today. No noticeable side effects yet. Met a woman in a chair yesterday who broke her hip while taking Evenity. A bit disheartening but I don’t know her circumstances. Also do cardio 5x weekly and strengthening 2-3 week. Here’s hoping.
There is a lot of negative reaction on the site, but I am 74 and had great gains from Evenity (ranging from 4.3 to 10,8 %) with a few side effects—some hives that I controlled with regular antihistamines and added dissolvable Zyrtec when they happened, and some inflammation in the rib and abdominal area. Both abated when the series of shots were finished. However the gains were worth it and I have now transitioned to Prolia for 1-2 years and then will do Reclast— both to preserve the gains. I have taken both before and tolerate them well. good luck to you.
We have similar paths. I will be consulting another endocrinologist to see if after one year of Prolia I can do another round of Evenity, then if I am still alive Prolia for ever after...
