Sharp electric pain in right top side teeth and gum?
I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and just had a mri with and without contrast, it didn't show a compression I'm at a loss and the pain is unbearable! Last night from 3pm to 11pm I had almost constant shocks. Anyone have helpful tip? Did oxcarbazepine take away your shocks? Any information helps at this point

I am not on Tegretol anymore. I haven't used it for years because my Trigeminal Neuralgia completely stopped after taking Tegretol for quite some time. Thankfully.
Sounds same as me. Much brief intermittent pain
in right upper side. Had 2 cracked molars crowned then TN attacks followed a few weeks later. Dentists adamant nothing wrong with teeth. Am taking 100 mg cabamazepine nightly. First thing in morning I drink 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a large glass of cold water. Horrible. Then I always add pepper to all drinks and food all day , because cayenne has 1/2 life of only 30 mins. Seeing a neurologist next week. Hoping for an MRI. If that shows no compression then my TN must be teeth. Then I will get root canal done. Good luck, James 82 NZ
Have you had your teeth checked? "Common things are common." I have had somewhat similar discomfort, attributed to cracks in my teeth. Good luck.
Yes, 3 dentists found teeth ok. Seeing a specialist next week. Then I expect an MRI . Expensive.
Good luck to you. Difficult journey. Let us know outcome.
Michael, my trigeminal neuralgia symptoms have completely gone since taking turmeric and cayenne pepper together. Scientist tried to copy them to sell to us , eg cabamazepine I was on.
I had terrible nerve pain/toothache in my upper right and lower right molars. Upper was worse.
Had the x-rays. No cracks in teeth. No tooth root damage.
My dentist said the most common cause of nerve pain in the back teeth is teeth clenching and teeth grinding at night due to stress. I found consciously relaxing my jaw and taking half a Valium at night resolved the situation in a couple of weeks. Ok there was dribble on the pillowcase. 🙂
Do you have a tooth crown in the area? This can increase the pressure if you are clenching at night.
It may not be that simple but it’s worth considering. The pain and distress was debilitating. I hope you get some relief.
