@itchyd do you mean noise cancelling headphones? Can’t go around wearing headphones everywhere I go! Unfortunately my ears cannot tolerate (hey, another intolerance I have!) ear buds or ear plugs either.

You can get noise-cancelling earbuds. They're generally not considered as effective as a pair of plain old foam inserts. I just wear the standard foam plugs that I used for decades working in loud industrial environments. Again, I've never tried noise-cancelling earbuds. So, I'd do some research first.
