AV node ablation

My electrophysiologist is also recommending the AV Ablation. I, too, have concerns about going through a procedure that is not reversible. I already do have a pacemaker. As sayaboleh said, some of us have AFib without any triggers. I have been on nearly all the meds with no success. I did have a cardioversion once that lasted 7 months. I don't drink alcohol and completely stay away from caffeine. My EP believes that the AV Ablation is the best option for me (I wish it were #5!). He said I would still be in AFib, but my pacemaker would control my heart rate.

I am asking levi1riley2 who has a pacemaker and had the AV Ablation seven years ago if you are aware of your AFib and if it is causing you any problems. The AV Ablation obviously does not stop AFib. I am very concerned about this procedure and appreciate hearing from anyone who has had it.

Didn't they do an AV node ablation before they put in the pacemaker?
