I had shingles over a year ago, but I still have severe itching on that side of my nose. The lining of the nostril is bumpy and firm, quite different from the other side. Capsacin cream is the only thing that stops the itch for me.

I had shingles six weeks ago. I itch on my cheek, side of my face and the top of my eye. The temple is numb and can burn. My eyebrow is swollen and is tender to the touch. My Dermotologist said I should use hydrocortisone but it doesn’t help. I will mention that cream to my doctor. I hope it will stop the itch. Thanks for your imput.

My primary doctor put me on gabapentin 300 mg twice a day. He said that that would help postherpetic neuralgia. from within, he said no cream would make the difference. I’m concerned about taking that’s stronger dose of gabapentin. Some people have said that it may cause dizziness do I have concerns. Will this help? Does anyone know I had shingles six weeks ago and this is the remenents.

I am in a similar situation. Had shingles on my left trunk 6 weeks ago. Since then I am experiencing back pain and tingling at all times. Can only sit in bed with pillows to feel slightly better. Also was prescribed Gabapentin. Helps only slightly. I am just beginning to pursue remedies as I am concerned this is not going away even though shingles is no longer active. I was also diagnosed with AFib last week. Any thoughts on connections between shingles, gabapentin, and AFib?

I was diagnosed with Shingles Jan 2025. I had it on the right side of my face. I had shingles of the cornea and my eye burned terribly. That is resolved but I have itching and burning on my forehead , etc eyebrow right eye and right part of scalp. I am on 900 milligrams of gabipentant. . I don’t think it is helping anymore. I am seeing a neurologist this Wed and I hope he has a solution. I don’t have Afib . Can’t help there . Wish you well

I had shingles on my chin 15 years ago. I still get pain, itching and tingling once in a while but after Covid in 2020 it was more often. Even something brushing against my face can trigger it like my hair or my sheets. I had another outbreak a few months ago in the same place and the itching and tingling was awful. I took vancyclovir but it made me sick. Still having occasional symptoms but Gabapentin causes side effects I don’t like and getting off of it is a nightmare for me. I just live with it like I do with my long Covid. Not fun but that’s life and I just deal. I’m afraid of getting the shingles vaccine because I know some people who got extremely ill. from it. My Dr wants me to get it so I’m thinking about it.

I’m so sorry! I have a similar condition, only on my forearms, around my back (the pathway of my shingles years ago). It’s maddening, and I never know when an onslaught will occur. I use gabapentin for the itching, only when it’s unbearable, but it doesn’t address the occurrences themselves. I wish I could be helpful. But know you are not alone. Hopefully someone will be able to help us. ( I have taken the shingles vaccination).
