What was your Gleason score & PSA at 64, and at 66 before RP? I am 68, Gleason 7 (3+4) Feb 14, PSA 10.5 Jan 24, 2025. I am waiting for schedule of my RP.

REPLY

My Gleason at age 64 was 3+4=7, but one year later, it was 4+3=7, so I opted for the recommended surgery. PSA was 8.4 at 64 and a year later when higher Gleason was found, PSA was 7.5.

Diagnosed at age 67, Gleason 8. RP then one year later ADT (6 months) and salvage radiation (33 zaps). PSA now < 0.02

I am 68. I was diagnosed at age 56. I was under active surveillance until last year when my Gleason score went to 3+4. I had prostate surgery last year. So far all of my PSA tests have come back as undetectable..

Me: Diagnosed last year at 66, RALP late last year.

Brother: Diagnosed at 58, also chose prostatectomy.

Father: Diagnosed at 73, also chose prostatectomy.

Here are the results so far... some of you made me do some math! Seriously, it was a bit emotional (and I'm not that type) tabulating this data because for each one there is a person... with a family... with fear... with hope... my heart goes out to each of you. Oh, forgot to add mine... 64 at diagnosis with IDC-P... RALP... now 65 and watching the PSA just becoming barely detectable.

Thank you @pcasurvivor for sharing your chart. Because you did, it saved me a lot of time. I just had to add a few months to the data that you have summarized.

Here is my update. The weighted average age at time of PCa diagnosis is 65: (Sum of the Ages indicated by our posters) divided by (No. of Support Group posters who indicated their Age at Time of Diagnosis).

I hope this helps answer the question on the Average Age.
