My Gleason score is 7 - 3+4. How long can I live without treatment?

I had 3+4 and 4+3 Gleasons. I also had a PSMA scan which showed the cancer was confined to the Prostate. One of my doctors ( I gathered so much information my head began to swim.) stated that radiation after a Prostatectomy is viable, but surgery after radiation is not as good/viable due to the effects of radiation on one’s body. For this and my other data gathered, plus reading Dr Patrick Walsh’s book on Surviving Prostate Cancer, I opted for the RALP. I did Pelvic Floor PT prior to and after surgery, guided by a woman, at a Baylor, Scott & White clinic in Austin, who was educated and trained to help men with Prostate Cancer. I had ZERO continence issues, NONE! The pathologist who examined my removed prostate stated the gland contained a cancer that WOULD HAVE SURVIVED radiation. By the way, after reviewing my documents and my thoughts, I told my Urologist I wanted the surgery. He said that, if it were him with my numbers, he would have made the same choice. (What a relief!) So, whatever path you choose, I sincerely wish you all the best!

Went through a very similar situation with a 3+4 and 4+3 Dr recommended surgery then I found out out cancer not gone so 6 weeks of hormone treatment And radiation. At 78 and in very good shape otherwise I will always wonder how long I might have survived if I did nothing. The last year has been the worst time in my life and unable to get an erection makes it all worse , when my second hormone shot wears off I have one last chance of injection or penal transplant, anyone with experience of trying either one or both ?

I think one would need more info like number of cores positive and % in positive cores. Was biopsy random or MRI guided? Can you tell us?

Just a single core MRI guided biopsy with less than 20% volume may give you 20 years. I am no expert however. Truth is nobody knows.

I don’t think you want a “transplant”- they already did the movie Frankenpenis😆. I think you meant “implant”. There was someone on yesterday’s forum who had one and was thrilled with the result and so was his wife.

I would strongly urge you to get on lupron. The side effects are very mild and completely tolerable. And living without sex is 90% still good. Your cancer has very small chance of not continuing to grow. It’s what I did and I agree. I really miss sex, but that’s the only limiting factor in my life.
