Another hospital stay
Hello from New Zealand.
Almost 2 years post surgery for stage 4 and after another 4 day stay in hospital combined with joining this group I think I've learned much much more about my condition.
Seems like it gastro paresis or delayed gastric emptying causing my current issues.
I have found so much useful info after joining this group and it has given me the ability to ask more questions too, thanks everyone, it's so helpful reading what you are all going through with me.
I've finally had a follow up gastroscopy after which I've been told it's all clear down there (relief), I was sure the cancer had returned.
We are also considering an adjustable bed.
I hope to be able to help others in the future too. Gary you are fantastic. One day I might get brave enough to join a zoom call.
Thanks Sue

The adjustable bed works quite well. Takes a bit to get used to. I'm post op and was doing great. Boom...I no longer east or drink. A week in the hospital, multiple scans, x-rays, meds and pneumonia finally cleared a food blockage. Recovery is not a straight line. Be prepared for zigs and zags and you'll be able to handle them better.
I am going on 15 yrs and I fought with gastroparesis constantly for the first 8 yrs. I started taking a medication that took care of it and the constipation all at once. I also had to figure out the dumping issue and I do know that how much you eat plays a huge part, 1 bite to many and your down for awhile. Also certain foods or ingredient can set it off...pay attention to everything and learn as you go.
Do you remember the name of the medication?
What medicine did you use for the gastroparesis? Was it Reglan?
It's called Linzess or Constella overseas. Gastroparisis and constipation/bloat go hand in hand and this medicine is used off label for this
I am using domperidone although it isn't working very well at the moment for motility
Thanks. I'm going to ask about this. Apparently it is available in NZ.
The regular is called metroclopramide here and the Drs didn't seem to think it would be any better for me. Additionally you can only use it for a short period
Yes... that's the same as Raglan. Good luck.
Ive been on it for 8 yrs straight
