The easiest way to get vitamin D is to get outside and get some sunshine. It's harder in the colder weather because not much of your skin is exposed, but in the summer, take advantage of it.

Also, how much vitamin D are you taking? It shouldn't give you palpitations. I was low on it, and I took around 3000 IU a day and that was enough to get me into the normal zone.

As for calcium, my method is to have a glass of milk and a bowl of cereal every day. That's two cups, or 600 mg, right there. I drink some fortified OJ for another 200, and then maybe I'll take a supplement if needed. Miscellaneous foods like broccoli can add a little more. I don't eat yogurt, but if I did, that would also help. There is calcium in some surprising sources; check out the nutrition labels for wheat bread, rye bread, tortillas.

denway, the usual way that excess D causes palpitations is by causings excess absorption of Calcium. I'd want to know what else could be causing low calcium with high D.

I think we need to know just how much vitamin D we're talking about here. My brother takes 10,000 IU once a week, which I think is crazy.

My vit D level is within normal limits. I just need a calcium supplement without adding vit D,l. My understanding is that D is needed for calcium absorption...correct?

I wonder if the palpitations come from the calcium channel blocker I take for elevated BP. My calcium and vit D levels are normal. I want more calcium for healthy bones.

I am not taking vit D....because of the palpitations. I want to take a calcium supplement but don't want the Vit D.

D supplementation can interfer with calcium channel blockers.
But, tell me about your bones.

I think you are on to something. I just read that people taking calcium channel blockers should not take vitamin D since it can interfere with the blocker.

I searched for calcium supplements without vitamin D, and there are definitely a number to choose from.

I think you better to do some more research Vitamin D3 K2 and manganese glycinate citrate best for the absorption of calcium should not really need much of a calcium supplement with these other supplements.

I take 5,000 iu per day and my level is 52 with the "normal" range being 30 to 100. A level of 60 is good.
