.edtronic pain pump
This is my 3rd pain pump prior to this replacement they reduced my amount I was getting they were supposed to replace the catheter but didn't. Since the new pump I have had symptoms of numbness over entire body. They say my new pump is at a lower dose then The prior one. I have dilodud on board has anyone else had this happen to them?

I had my medtronic pain pump implanted two years ago. It has never given me any pain relief. I've had its output cranked up more times than I can remember. At one point it gave me weird feelings, so I have been having it decreased for a few months with the intention of getting it removed. I just contacted the pain doc who did the trial to see how much he shot into my back to make my pain level drop from an 8 down to a 2. If it was significantly higher than what I was getting from the actual pump output, I may try having the output increased again. The pain pump is supposed to have a success rate of 94%, so why am I hearing of so many patients who have not gotten much pain relief?
Anyway, I certainly hope that you can get better results than I did.
I had my Medtronic implanted a year ago. I too thought at first that I wasn't getting the relief I was expecting. It was then that my doctor reminded me that it was my lousy back that made me decide to go this route. He, of course, was right. My back is great. When I remember the pain I once had, I understood. I was looking for total pain relief once installed, and of course, that wasn't the case. It sometimes helps my fibromyalgia, arthritis, & sciatica I still may have to take a couple Tylenol for break-through. All in all I'm very happy. What was your reason for the pump?
I had fusion of L4 5 S1 and they damaged the nerve. The thing that gets me is prior to replacing my old pump I was getting coverage and every thing was fine. However with this one in they don't have it set to where the old one was at, causing this pain. The doc for some reason is taking there sweet ole time. This last increase I asked for hard medication so that I could be somewhat comfortable but then I ran out and they won't give me another Rx. I go back in March when we will have a Come to Jesus meeting with them!! Why don't the medical people listen to the patient. Just sick of it!!
I had bad lower back pain that was not well controlled by anything. The pump seemed to be my last hope.
Has anyone experienced weakness from the medicine in the pump? Thanks
What is the best medicine that does no cause weakness?
Weakness I tried all medicines do you experience weakness? What medicine is best? I'm a hyper guy.
Lower back fusion. But I'm always weak. Do you experience any weakness? Thanks
No, @wiliaam22, I don't feel weakness at all. My pump is one year old today, and has changed my life! I still have other aches and pains from issues other than my back, but it is minimal. Are you thinking about it?
I have had my pain pump for two years. I have not had any pain relief. My trial(0.4 mg. hydromorphone) dropped my pain from an 8 down to a 2. But, after it wore off, I had quite a bout of vomiting. I had the pump output increased many times over the first year with no help. The last time I had it increased, it went up 20%. I felt all dizzy and uneasy, so I began to have the output decreased with the thought of having it it removed. I just met with pain management, and we agreed that I may have stopped short of getting to the best point of drug delivery to address my pain. I will add two boluses at my next visit. Then we will start going back up. Has anyone experienced anything like this with their pain pump? I am somewhat desperate as my pain has been increasing over the past five months. Thank you for your responses.
