Thank you, but I am not about to buy a new mattress, so if anyone knows how to raise a regular, old-fashioned, double-bed mattress, please share!

You can put wood blocks under the front bedposts to raise the head of your bed. You can add height also if your bed has slats under box springs…you can raise top of mattress by raising height of those slats. I bough a foam riser for reflux on line….its like a triangular foam riser.

I bought a pretty inexpensive, small device, it's like a small motor and it allowed me to make my bed into an adjustable bed so that I can raise and lower it to sleep. From the internet: "Memory foam, latex, and hybrid mattresses are generally the best options for use with adjustable bases, as they provide the flexibility and durability needed to perform well with the base's various adjustments. Traditional innerspring mattresses may not be as compatible due to their rigid construction."
