My last endocrinologist wanted to put me on Reclast, prolia and every drug under the sun for about six years and I refused. On our last visit, she said if you don’t do what I say then I can’t help you…. so that was our last visit. As I walked out the door, she said don’t break a bone. I guess that was her sense of humor? I will not mention the name of the doctor, but she is highly rated in a large hospital in Philadelphia. I now have a new endocrinologist who is willing to work with me and my choice to do bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. If your doctor is unwilling to seek answers find someone else!
So hard to find a doctor who will consider anything other than drugs. Thanks to Dr Keith McCormick’s book “The Whole Body Approach to Osteoporosis” I found out about the helpful DEXA add on tests TBS (trabecular bone score) and VFA (vertebral fracture assessment) and asked my nurse practitioner to add them on to my scheduled DEXA scan next month. She hadn’t even heard of those tests and she has osteoporosis! The facility she originally had me scheduled for my DEXA did not offer these two add on tests so I had to find one 60 miles away that did. So thankful for Dr Keith McCormick’s very informative book. I highly recommend it. @amy68 I agree that you need to find another doctor who will order your DEXA’s.
