Congratulations to your experience! I endured a one-hour barbaric TUMT at age 47 in early 2010. Look it up youtube, they don't treat terrorists nearly as bad. One hour with a microwave turkey-baster style prong inserted due to congenital birth defect resulting in retainment of up to 900-ml. This was NOT performed at Mayo, but local doctor scared me into getting it done asap. I had NO ED before procedure, just urine retention. I'm still suffering major ED today. Was told it was be good for "years" but required a 2nd laser PVP in 2016. Again, blindly allowed another doctor in another state to perform. What was I thinking? ED worsened. Today I'm self-cath and retaining about 300-ml, but terrified to have yet another local doctor to push me into HOLEP...he's got 200 surgeries under his belt (he states). In retrospect, I would have skipped all surgeries and been self-cath, but had a happy life/wife otherwise. It pays to be educated and stay conservative. I would recommend self-cath to every man, but that's just my opinion. I have spoken to Mayo urologist and respect them; but I'm just scared.

Please accept my deepest support and sympathy for your experiences. You and no patient should ever have this happen to them. It’s important to acknowledge you are doing your absolute best to help yourself ,&get healthy and thats a great thing. As far as Drs go. , if you can confirm you are eligible for HoLep , please just call my Dr if you don’t already have it set up or are looking for a golden second opinion. The RE is on its own for now with the chance it could be permanent. But let a Dr tell you this. Note that everyone is not the same , if you can get the main issue resolved it’s one less thing on your plate. It’s impressive youre in emotional control with going with the flow ( good for you that’s a flex). Of all the surgeries you could get holep usually has the fastest recovery rate for most men. I wasn’t traumatized or in pain at all. Discomfort was a 6 for a few hours etc. This phase is going to be over soon I can see it.
Continued improvement
