Constant itching scalp
Just interested if anyone has an itchy scalp? I have had 3 cancers but this is driving me crazy. Two doctors gave me shampoo but the side effects loss of hair etc put me off using them. I have been using 1 tablespoon of olive oil and tea tree and peppermint oil. Has anyone had a problem and if so what did they use? Thanks

Hi, though this is not a cure by a long shot, when I have an outbreak from my chronic hives, I do use an ice pack for temporary relief from the itch. I hope that helps you some, at least for a bit.
I have this also and have had for almost a year. But no ice, heat, or anything I rub on it seems to help. I haven't seen a doctor yet because it seems that is all I do-go to medical care. But I also have lung problems and skin that appears to be burned, so I think it is systemic. Does anyone have anything else that goes with this, or is it just scalp?
Also, like first person (this is bluehorse10 again) I have had melanoma on my face and one terrible-appearing knife mark where one was removed. I worry that it has returned. On top of that (or underneath) are lung problems. I don't know if this is all connected.
CeraVe gentle hydrating Shampoo and gentle hydrating Conditioner is very good. It's new on the market and I purchased it at Wal Mart. Soothes the scalp like no other shampoo I have tried. Suitable for color treated hair. No sulfates, parabens, fragrance. Allergy tested and suitable for sensitive scalp. Doesn't disrupt the scalp barrier. Leaves hair soft and shiny. No, I don't work for CeraVe. I took the information off of the shampoo bottle. It works for me.
Having a compromised immune system can cause an infestation of Demodex. They are supposed to be comensal, however I don't believe it any more, nor do the hundreds of people on Facebook's multiple support groups who live a nightmare, thanks to Demodex.
I had dry eye and used Xdemvy drops, which killed them. They moved to my scalp, so I used a tea tree oil shampoo and then poured 100% tea tree oil onto my scalp (wearing goggles to protect my eyes) and put on a shower cap, waited 10 minutes and washed it out. TTO kills Demodex in 3 minutes but I wasn't taking any chances. It really helped.
My immune system was compromised from breast cancer. What most people in the support groups say is that their doctors either don't know about Demodex, or don't want to deal with it. The only doctors who understand them are ophthalmologists, because that's the usual reason for blepharitis. My own dermatologist thinks they are good for us. Yikes. It was my ophthalmologist for dry eye who told me my chemo caused their proliferation.
Demodex may not be your issue, but studies have shown that 100% of cadavers have Demodex and 100% of people over 70 have them. It's only infants who don't. Good luck!
Note: Xdemvy worked so well for me that I bought stock in the company.
